The Buchanan Center for the Arts Gift Shop features items that have been handcrafted by local and area artists as well as fair trade items. They have lots of lovely items that you simply won’t find anywhere else. Hand woven scarves by Betsy Johnston, photos by James Keefe, books by award-winning local authors, and more. Shop locally and support our local artists—shop locally and support the world.
Fair trade items benefit the artists from around the world. Fair trade is an alternative way to doing business that promotes equal, sustainable relationships between consumers and producers. This includes paying fair wages in local communities, engaging in environmentally sustainable practices, and promoting healthy working conditions. These trading partnerships are based on relationships of mutual respect. How can buying fair trade help? Buying fair trade can actually change the lives of some of the world's poorest people. Workers earn greater incomes for their labor and the returns are often invested in community projects, such as health clinics, education and child care.
The BCA Gift Shop is located at 64 Public Square. For more information, please visit the Buchanan Center for the Arts website.
