The Cops and Bobbers Fishing Derby is designed to get kids hooked on fishing! This family-friendly event began in 2006 and is hosted by the Monmouth Police Department. It is usually held in May at Citizen's Lake, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., for ages 2-15. 2017 date TBA.

In preparation for spring home remodeling projects, the Chamber of Commerce hosts the Monmouth Home Show in February, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the 1st Street Armoury. (The 2017 Home Show was February 18.) This free event is designed to assist residents with their renovation projects. About thirty vendors are on hand to answer questions and discuss their services.

Pottery on the Square is held on Monmouth’s Public Square and brings creative, family fun to the area. Some of the activities include pottery demonstrations, pottery auctions, and window displays of pottery pieces.

The annual 4th of July Fly-In Breakfast is held at the Monmouth Airport and is sponsored by the Monmouth Flying Club. An average of 1,200 breakfasts are served, and each year there are nearly 100 visiting aircraft.

The Prime Beef Festival is a long-standing tradition in Monmouth, held the weekend after Labor Day at the Monmouth City Park. The fall festival was started after World War II as a "welcome home" event for returning veterans. In 1948, it was confirmed that more beef flowed into the Chicago stockyards from Warren County, Illinois, than any other location.
